Funny, irreverent, poignant and never boring, this is the closest we'll ever come to an autobiography. So, what you need to know about this book is that it is not an autobiography in the usual sense of the world.

Some songs I didn't know and had to watch it on YT and to see him on stage or just listening to his wonderful voice, ahh, made me so sad :( I don't think only fans of Queen or Freddie should read this. The story describes how on many occasions the group almost broke up, but was always kept together by their shared love of breaching musical boundaries.

Even if it's just half an hour of their lives, in any way that I can make them feel lucky or make them feel good, or bring a smile to a sour face, that to me is worthwhile. I look back at myself, and think oh my God, how could I have done that, wearing black nail varnish, the long hair and the make-up.Queen е издаден след смъртта на Фреди и включва последните песни, които той записва, и във всяка една от тях се усеща силата на духа му, жаждата за живот и невероятният оптимизъм! Told across 20 chapters and 194 pages, this is Freddie’s life in his own words - delivered in his own inimitable, unpredictable, invariably funny, often poignant, and always entertaining way. I think that taking quotes out of context garbled the meaning of what he was saying a lot of the times. The nearest thing to a Freddie Mercury autobiography as it is possible to achieve, “A Life, In His Own Words” is a meticulously assembled collection of moving, witty, and often irreverent quotes from the man himself. But as the pages turn, we see a Freddie Mercury gradually changing the priorities in his life to one more sedate and necessarily changed by the cloud of the HIV/AIDS virus beginning to shadow the gay community.

Mercury, who was a Parsi and grew up in India, has been referred to as "Britain's first Asian rock star. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Heck, even if you're not planning on reading this book the knowledge of Queen and their music is highly recommended. I'll be honest here, I hadn't heard before that Freddie has an autobiography and the words his life in his own words picked my interest. So I did, having been a Queen band fan since they first came onto the scene very much in my early years and now at 72 years, i must admit that I did know that this book existed.

I think this kind of memoir is much, much better than reading a whole "he was born xxx, he went to xxx school".

Not only Freddie, but the whole band fascinated me so much that I did what I usually do: I jumped deep into the fandom. If you want to read this because you're looking for details of his private life: you won't really find it. I've read almost all of the biographies out there about Freddie Mercury, and I learned something from each one, but this book is the one that will make you feel like you really got to know the man behind the legend. Que se puede decir de Queen que no se haya dicho ya, solo se tendría que decir que ¡Dios salve a la reina!
