He has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, and is the author of numerous articles on the history of religion, theology, spirituality, and social ethics as well as three books. Elizabeth is likewise no Claire Fraser – but a lot of Claire’s appeal lies in her delivering 19th century humour to the 17th century. For those mourning the end of whatever Jamie Fraser novel they finished last, the Wilderness series steps in as an easy niche-fitting substitute. In his heart, the Mahican tribe of Hawkeye’s youth is the truest kin he will ever know, just as Nathaniel will always remain loyal to the Mohawk nation.

Tammy spends her days playing working in IT, crossing paths occasionally with her husband and being the “cool mom” (at least in her mind) to her teen and tween girls. I am especially thrilled at the prospect of reading more little mentions and side-notes about Gabaldon’s characters who cross-over into Donati’s world. Nathaniel is a white man that dresses like an Indian, a backwoodsman raised and trained in the Mohawk way.If you've read INTO THE WILDERNESS or any of Sara Donati's other books, feel free to post your reactions here (whether positive or negative). It's long but interesting and the characters leap off the page but somewhere midpoint this book just didn't resonate with me the way I expected it to.

However, several months ago I purchased "The Gilded Hour" because the time period attracted me and I failed to note the author until I'd already purchased. While a little less steamy, their love reminds me of Jamie and Claire’s and they are the anchor for the majority of series. I think it’s because Gabaldon is so adept at writing action and heart-palpitating plot that anything slower is sometimes frustrating to trudge through.

Turning to Moses, he said, ‘You are too cowardly to fight your own battles, so you bring your dog to fight for you? The attention to historical detail is fabulous, just enough to make you feel there without being a history lesson. I was over-joyed to see the promo for the second instalment advertised in the back cover, less so when I realised I would have to wait two years for it, and for each one thereafter. I've long been a fan of Big Fat Historical Novels, but this one wasn't as engaging as I'd hoped it would be.

Nathaniel’s heroine is Elizabeth Middleton – a 29 year old spinster who never thought she would find love in the wilderness, let alone with an adopted Mohawk.Ive recommended to these books to so many people and have been successful in in getting them interested in reading again.
