Day eight… only positive for me is it gave me inspiration to add a staging table area to a custom build I am doing to the modular HP Castle sets and making the kitchens under the Chamber of Secrets (2021) set between the great hall and the chamber of secrets using two of the dormitory promo sets Lego sent out last month as the shell of the room. I was gutted to miss out on Avengers but I think this is the pick of them this year, adding a game playing element to it.

LEGO building kits satisfy strict industry quality standards to ensure they are consistent, compatible and connect and pull apart perfectly every time – and it’s been that way since 1958.And that’s it for Day 16 – no building required, but it’s nice to get some more Wizarding items, and also a chocolate frog card. There was quite a lot of Sellotape holding the flap in place, and this was a little tricky to remove without damaging the box. I also love looking for uses for all my spare bits: I added a little bar in brown in the grippers to give it a more finished look. Anyway, thank you so much to everyone who has been following the 2021 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar countdown every day, going on this journey to Hogwarts together!

Right on cue, for Day 2 of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, we get the titular hero himself – a Harry Potter minifigure! Day 5 of the 2021 Harry Potter Advent Calendar gives us more delightful references from the Philosopher’s Stone, with Hagrid’s Birthday cake, given to Harry for his 11th birthday! The Harry Potter Advent Calendar is a spellbinding gift for Harry Potter fans of all ages, from 14 to adult.I think by now we can assume the kids are on the Hogwarts Express, they’ve met each other and are speeding towards Hogwarts!

But it did include a little game, though I’m not sure it could keep the attention for long (though I did publish a set of house rules to make it more interesting).

Nothing too fancy here, and it’s a break from the tradition of getting a Harry Potter minifigure on Day 1’s window like previous years. If that wasn’t enough new headgear, then Draco has a unique fluffy hat mould that even has ear flaps, while Ron’s longer hair is being kept warm under a bobble hat. While I did enjoy some of the builds, and the random Chocolate Frog Cards, I don’t think it compares to previous Harry Potter Advent Calendars, which had a cohesive scene such as last year’s Yule Ball, or even micro models which were a lot of fun. Yes, and seeing that it is also a board game, the game must be a kind of chronological journey following Harry’s adventure to Hogwarts. One change could be if the white globe had been replaced by a glow-in-the-dark piece, should it be available in that colour.

Here’s a look at the back printing, and the alternate face which has a shocked expression on its face. The functionality works pretty well and while the build is quite simple, it does the job pretty well. This is LEGO’s fourth year of Harry Potter Advent Calendars, and similar to the 2021 version, there’s some sort of game included in the 2022 version as well!VERDICT: Prisoner of Azkaban fans need to grab Buckbeak to fly and get this super set full of fantastic minifigures.
