S’il est plaisant de retrouver tous les personnages, même l’intrigue a un goût de déjà-vu avec le précédent roman malgré les ajouts. Fans of the series might find it intriguing to delve into other works by {author name} to see how their writing has evolved or how different themes are explored across their body of work. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. in fact they were all leading up to this book which makes me hope that this is not the last that we hear from the Dales detective agency. Great pace, great finish to so many stories, this feels like it could be a very satisfying end to my time in Bruncliffe with Samson and Delilah, but I don't want it to be, and right there is a mark of the success of this 8th instalment.

Julia's Chapman's latest witty and engaging Dales Detective novel sees Delilah's brother under suspicion of murder. The dialogue is funny, notably on the subject of the fledgling romance between Delilah and Samson, where everyone has an opinion and isn’t afraid to voice it, to much squirming and embarrassment from the recipients. and murder, has become a go to for me for reading slump rescue recommendations, reading clubs, and just getting out of the doldrums in general, and this was to be a culmination of so many different story threads, and Julia Chapman did it! Biography: Julia Chapman is the pseudonym of Julia Stagg, who has had five novels, the Fogas Chronicles set in the French Pyrenees, published by Hodder.

Not only is she trying to prove her promotion wasn’t nepotism, she’s also trying to juggle local politics, all while trying to catch a killer.I loved Delilah and Samson together, they turn out to be a really good combo – good for each other and their business. All the previously laid threads meet here and many are neatly tied up, although there's one more book (at least), so obviously not all of them. The Dales Detective series will be developed by Saffron Cherry’s Caroline Roberts-Cherry and Head of Scripted Jane Langford (Hollyoaks, Metastasis, Jordskott S2, Origin). I would like to thank Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for an advance copy of Date with Evil, the eighth novel to feature Samson O’Brien and Delilah Metcalfe of the Dales Detective Agency, set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Buncliffe.
